A Message From The Crossover Founder Jeff Benjamin
The Crossover is a new platform for truthful and analytical conversations that will take you inside what’s really building inside the global expansion of pop music.
When people ask me about my career, one of the main takeaways I speak to is the work I’ve done to be a bridge between the U.S. and South Korea music and media worlds. I work in America and prescribe to the standards here, but my larger goal has always been about having both sides understanding each other better.
Professionally, 2024 was a year where I felt more misunderstood by those in proximity to me in the industry, who don't know me, and who claim they want to protect or help me but ultimately use whatever leverage or power they think they have to tell others who I am. Luckily, 2024 was also the year I was able to realize this (while watching the media’s complete misunderstanding of the country during the election…) and decide to take matters into my own hands.
I haven't been perfect, but I'm also prouder of the way I feel more confident and trusting of my path and self, even when obstacles turn me into my own worst enemy. I let certain voices and other people's bad intentions and decisions hurt my pride and take away my inner peace. But I'm holding myself accountable to do better and The Crossover will be the realization of that.
This next chapter and era is going to be big, possibly scary, but ultimately necessary. I can only hope you’ll all keep joining me in it. I'll always stand for music, connection, peace, love and freedom, and letting those pillars guide my life and work.
While I will continue to work and create in the usual outlets you’re used to seeing my work, having a partner like beehiiv and their new Media Collective empowers me to have more autonomy over my work and the ability to be more honest than ever while doing so in exploring the crossover of K-pop, pop and beyond.
I hope you’ll join The Crossover club to make actual history and shake up traditional systems. Or, as I like to say, #NoMoreMediaPlay

Here’s what we can promise you as a subscriber and supporter of The Crossover:
I will keep my enthusiasm and excitement about global pop music
I will write the news that is fit to print, not the news that has the biggest publicity push
I will hold executives, businesses, artists and fans accountable when they’ve displayed questionable behavior
I will also always be willing to hear the side and talk with said executives, businesses, artists and fans
I will never be negative for the sake of being negative, controversy or clicks
I will never talk down to you or assume I know better
I will always work to foster kindness, empathy and understanding in our communities
I will expand this as The Crossover officially launches
