February proved to be another transformative month in K-pop with the latest playlist from The Crossover curating your ultimate guide to the scene’s best sounds.
ZEROBASEONE is headlining this month’s custom cover — save it! — with their effervescent “BLUE” single to set the tone for the month.
Established powerhouses featured this month include JISOO and her seismic single “earthquake,” Chung Ha’s vogue-inspired “STRESS,” and EVNNE’s kinetically fun “HOT MESS.”
Emerging talents are also in the spotlight this month. Starship Entertainment’s new girl group KiiiKiii showed promise after introducing themselves with “I DO ME,” while rising and critically acclaimed girl group RESCENE delivered their Glow Up EP with three excellent tracks including the title track single. Experimental rookies like ARrC made their mark with the throwback punch in the new single “nu kidz” and the subtle coolness found in album cut “loop.dll.” Plus, soloist Gyubin’s b-side “Evergreen” will stand as one of the brightest K-pop gems this year.
There is also a handful of acoustic pop-rock cuts to offer an easy-listening vibe with tracks like POW’s “Gimme Love,” Jayn Lee’s “Love & Sugar,” plus “Wanna Say” by NINEXCIX and Dasloe.
Crossovers continue to expand K-pop’s boundaries, featuring JISOO’s dual English offerings “Your Love” and “Hugs & Kisses,” alongside two of the best cuts from LISA’s Alter Ego album in the anthemic “Thunder” and surprisingly personal “Dream.” Plus, Olivia Marsh steps into her own with the ‘00s pop and R&B influences in her new songs like “Strategy” and “Pina Colada.” Not to mention, JENNIE teaming up with Doechii on “ExtraL” is 100 percent crossover-ready if the duo decides to push this as a proper single.
